"THE DEATH OF A BROTHER"

    Celebrating At the 25th birthday party, Anas came back home and called his sister Laiba to give him a towel as his dress was filled with the smell of egg, which his friends threw at him while celebrating the birthday party. Laiba was shocked to see his face which was full of chocolate and she quickly clicked the picture and that was for the first time that her brother didn’t refuse her. The next day, Anas’s friends decided to have a party for Anas and his friends brought Australian eggs and when Anas came to know this he refused to come.

    Anas was on his way home from the job when he got an accident on the same day and until he was in his consciousness, he called his friends and told them that he got an accident. After some time the cousin of Anas who was going on marriage received a phone call in which a stranger told him about the accident and he told him that you have 15 minutes to come because the condition of Anas is serious.

    All the family member got shocked after listening this news and they begged for Anas life. Anas’s mother was in Karachi to attend the marriage of relatives. She was called on the spot to come back. All the cousins at the hospital came to know that Anas’s 95% of brain was not working. And there were 0.1% chances of his life even after the surgery. This negative news from the doctor made everyone sorrowful because the doctors were showing zero hope. 

    For the next five hours the condition of Anas was critical and he had surgery of 5 hours and in this surgery, the doctors showed a positive sign for his life. At home, everyone was weeping and praying for his speedy recovery and after 5 hours doctors informed everyone that surgery was successful but the next three days would be very critical for him as he had passed through major brain surgery in which a piece of bone was drawn from the brain and according to doctor the bone was to be inserted in the brain after the 6 months.

    Everyone was happy to know about the successful surgery and Laiba went to the hospital to see his brother. Anas was shifted to ICU on bed number 15 and when Laiba went near her, she holds his hand and started weeping, but Anas was unconscious he couldn’t hear her sister’s voice. Laiba was in a bad state after seeing his brother lying on a hospital bed with major brain surgery, broken rib bone, and scratches on the leg.

    This was the toughest time for all the family members and friends. Everyone gave Sadaqah for him prayed for his speedy recovery, and after one more day the doctor told him that the next 12 days are very much tough for him because we need to slow down the number of pain killers and he had to weigh his whole pain on his own. The very next day Laiba went to the hospital and Anas was on the same bed, his sister holds his hand and asked him to get back to them because all the family members really need him. On that day doctor said that he could hear our voices and that made everyone more hopeful about him. 

    The very next day one of the senior doctors said that he is getting better day by day and there are more chances for his survival. The very next day Laiba at home continued teaching children whom she had given holidays after the accident. While she was teaching, she feels suffocation and a situation that could not be explained but one can feel this. The phone vibrates and when she received the phone, a cousin asked him to give the phone to her mother. On phone, the cousin asked everybody to be mentally prepared for any news because the oxygen level in the body of Anas was decreasing and his lungs were only 25% working. This was the news which made everyone tremble and after 1 hour, a phone call was received and my cousin said that Anas was no more.

    In the state of shock everyone just got still and couldn’t even move a single foot. The neighbors after listening to the voices full of sorrow gathered in the house and all the tents were put. Laiba loved his brother too much that she could even not heard the full news and went to the upper portion because she didn’t have enough courage to see his brother lying on the death bed miserably. Laiba’s father and cousins went to take her down. When she saw the dead body of her brother, she couldn’t control herself from crying loudly.

    It was quite shocking for everyone. Laiba just remembered that her brother said to her once that whenever the winter would come then you would see my foot and you will love to give them a kiss. And this thing made her sit near the feet of his brother’s dead body and she slowly kissed the fingers of her brother. After the funeral the house was empty. Nobody could sleep for a single minute.

    The whole night Laiba remembered the thing which Anas used to say and do. She remembered the promise which his brother made to him that he would give a pizza party after he would receive his salary. But all the things were just giving pain and this was the pain that every family member had to live with. The great sorrow for whole life is when we lose the loveliest person of our life and Laiba and his mother were passing through this pain and Laiba never delete even the single picture from his brother’s mobile which she was using after his death.
