"A MAGICAL SHOE"

It was a sunny day in July. David went to his grandmother to spend summer vacations. All of his other cousins arrived there too. They were very happy that they are going to spend a week together. They had their lunch and started waiting for everyone to go for a nap in the rooms so that they can play. When they assured that everyone is sleeping they went to the top roof of their granny’s house. They were playing hide and seek and suddenly one of them suggested that they should do a bonfire. At first, they started arguing but in the end, they all agreed on the bonfire. Then they started looking for woods. After a lot of struggle, they could not find the woods. They sat sadly in the room because what they decided is not going to happen.

            They were sitting in the storeroom which was on the rooftop. Accidently one of David’s cousins Richie got an eye on some old newspapers. He started thinking deeply and suddenly he came up with an idea. He gathered all his cousins enthusiastically. He asked them to burn those old useless newspapers instead of finding wood. All of them stared at Richie for a while and then they thought that it would be a good idea because at that time all of them wanted a bonfire. They brought all the newspapers out of the drawer. Some of them brought snacks and drinks. David along with Richie brought a matchbox and a fire pan. They put newspapers in the fire pan and set up a fire. They started putting more and more newspapers in the fire pan.

            They sat around the fire (how innocent they were!) as it was a sunny day, they all started sweating. But they were enjoying a lot eating snacks and having drinks. They started sharing incidents of their schools. One of them suggested moving to the storeroom along with the fire pan. They all agreed and moved to the storeroom. They turned on the fan there as they were feeling hot. When they turned the fan on, one of the burning newspaper flew and fell on the thermoformed sheet in the storeroom.

All were busy sharing things and laughing. Suddenly they felt a bad smell. Richie looked to his left and saw the thermoformed sheet on fire. He started screaming, they got scared. They did not understand that what to do in that situation. David was thinking something and he untied his shoelaces. Richie was watching him and was shocked that they all are worried because of the fire and David is putting his shoes out.

 Suddenly David started hitting fire with his shoe thinking of his as a magical shoe that with only one hit the fire will go down. He kept hitting the fire with his magical shoe while all of his cousins were watching him. He was so busy hitting that his shoe got fire. Now it is the time for David to scream. His elder cousin rushed into the restroom and brought out water and threw water on the fire and on the magical shoe of David too. All of them started throwing water on the fire. After some time the fire blew down but there was a great mess.

Everyone was standing there with pale faces and fast heartbeats. They looked at each other and laughed out loud. But then there was the big problem that how they will tell about all this to their elders. They started making different excuses but nothing seemed to work out. At last, they decided to remain silent until their parents will ask about it. The sun was setting and they all went down with their pale faces, fast heartbeats, and fear. They washed their faces and took tea. After that, they went to a nearby park for refreshment.

At that time, they all forgot about what they did in the storeroom. They enjoyed it a lot and went home. After that, they ate dinner and went to sleep with a feeling that no one can catch them. The next morning when they woke up and had their breakfast they were all brought to their granny’s room as criminals. At first, they did not realize what they did but in a while, they remembered that they had created a big mess their parents had caught them.

Now their granny was the judge, they were criminals and their parents were the audience. Their granny’s room was giving a look of a courtroom. On questioning, they all started crying. Their granny heart melted and asked them to promise that will never go to the storeroom and will never do such stupid things again as they can harm them. They promised and went out of the room. After that, they promised each other that they will never set fire again.
