DARK AND BLIND

"DARK AND BLIND"
BY SHAZIA ANWAR AND SARA MUMTAZ

As soon as the phone rang, Mrs. Aaron picked up the phone and a voice came from the other side and Mrs. Haroon was very happy to hear that her son was fine.  And now she can take him home, but now she will be accompanied by a nurse, Mrs. Aaron's son Zaid, who was injured in a road accident a few months ago and has lost his sight due to a brain injury. An hour later, Zaid's mother came home with Zaid and the nurse.  Zaid is no longer visible and now all of Zaid's work is the responsibility of this nurse.

Zaid belonged to a rich family and Zaid's father had died in infancy but his father was the governor of the city and he was killed by someone due to personal opposition.  But because of his high position, even after his death, his wife and son do not face much financial trouble.  Zaid was out since childhood.  Living in the United States, he was very careful and liked things.  When he arrived in Pakistan, he asked his mother for his favorite car, and Mrs. Aaron immediately gave him a beautiful Ferrari.  Zaid had completed his education.  And he was running his father's business.  One night he went for a walk with his friends and had an accident.

And today, three months after the accident.  Now they were waiting for someone to give Zaid their eyes.  The nurse named Mahi was now taking care of Zaid.  Everything from breakfast to dinner was Mahi’s responsibility.  Mahi was now Zaid's best friend more than a nurse.  Zaid did not like the food of any servant; he only liked the food of Mahi’s hand. He now preferred the food of Mahi’s hand instead of fast food.

Every evening he would sit by the window and drink tea, where Mahi used to read him a novel at sunset.  Zaid was a very modern boy who never liked Urdu stories.  But he was beginning to like the fact that Mahi would take him to a world where he did not need his own eyes.  They would sit for two hours and get lost in such a world.  Where they felt each other in the characters of the novel.

Mrs. Aaron also knew that Zaid no longer needed a nurse.  She thought her son was recovering, perhaps because she would let Mahi stay close to her son.  Mahi daily tells him that there is a very beautiful park across the window with many beautiful trees. There are many noisy birds on the trees, the chirping of which fills the life of a human being.  Zaid falls in love with Mahi because of her beautiful words and charming style. He talks to his mother about it.  On the other hand, Mahi’s parents have died long ago and she is living in a hostel.  Eventually, they get married in a simple ceremony.  One year has passed since their marriage.

One day a phone call came which filled his life with happiness.  Zaid got a donor, now Zaid can see the colors of this world again.  On this day, Mahi is very happy and she dresses up as she did on her wedding day.  But as soon as Zaid saw him, all his impressions changed.  She was very different from what he felt from her words and her beautiful voice.  She thought she would be a very beautiful and playful girl as he felt in the character of the novel.

But she was a girl of fair complexion and normal impressions at the time he did not say anything to her, but then her It becomes a habit to ignore and dissociate oneself from it.  Mahi is very upset because of this behavior and finally, one day quietly leaves her life.  A few months later, one day Zaid received a phone call telling him that Mr. Zaid had given birth to a daughter.  Hearing this, he rushes to the hospital where he finds out that his wife is no more.  He brings his daughter home.  Her daughter is as normal as her mother, but Zaid doesn't like her anymore.

He often took his daughter in his arms and sat by the same window where Mahi used to recite novels to her.  Outside, he saw an old broken wall where some children were playing cricket.  But then he remembered Mahi’s words that there is a beautiful park with lots of birds.  There are beautiful swings where children are playing cricket.  But there was no such thing.  Sometimes a person thinks a lot but the reality is the opposite.  Then man has nothing but remorse for his mistakes.
